Christmas Homework - Giorgio Armani Beauty

Chosen Brand: Giorgio Armani Beauty 

A brand that much like Chanel and Yves Saint Laurent; combines fashion/catwalk vibes with luxuriously packaged everyday make-up. It's whole image is very chic, luxurious and minimalistic which leaves a lot of the talking to be done through the beauty products. Like many other brands, Armani has taken some ideas from other brands such as it's Eye and Brow Maestro- could easily be linked to the on-going trend of Anastasia's Brow Pomade. The Lip Maestro could also be linked to the matte velvet lip trend from 2014. Although there isn't an obscene amount of products in it's make-up range, many of the products are multi-purpose- perfect for any artist! For example, Armani's liquid bronzer and blush products that look photo-ready with perfect packaging for your kit. 

Now, Armani not only produces make-up, but skincare and fragrance products too! In regards to their skincare I have very little experience but there is a whole web of reviews to explore on that matter. Fragrance is standard and is probably what the beauty line originally stemmed from. They carry the classics and even the latest eau de parfums for both men and women, at a very typical designer perfume price. The skincare varies within four different lines, a perfectly tight knit bunch with the standard overpriced cream or serum, eye cream etc. It is worth the extra bucks though? I looked at two of the most expensive skin products Armani had to offer, both from the Crema Nera collection- retailing at a small fortune of £310 each. After doing a bit of research, I found that 42% of people who reviewed this product on Make-up Alley would purchase this product again. Reading many of the comments for this pricey product, led me to believe that customers liked that this cream was scentless, but found it to be way too heavy on the skin. Some could say that maybe this is one of Armani's let-downs of a product and from reading reviews, it seems it hasn't quite met it's price tag.

Giorgio Armani's beauty advertisements in magazines almost always, represent their brand to a T. They are very professional, fashion-editorial like, and have a certain class about them. You definitely won't find Armani Beauty being shown in your daily read of Heat.

This double-page spread advertising the fabulous Luminous Silk Foundation, is not only very minimalistic, but the detail put in and the depths of the logo are very impressive. Can you see what I mean about that certain class? The dark and sultry studio picture to your left blocks out the eyes smartly, to really enhance and promote the idea of foundation and skin. The cheekbones have been highlighted to show case that 'luminous' aspect and let's face it, her photoshopped face looks perfect. What I really love about this advertisement is the right-hand page. So simple but yet, so effective with the logo and background made of foundation. It has somehow made the actual image of the product stand out and compliments the white serif text shown.

Again, another double page spread that can either be found in high-fashion magazine or on their website. This piece is all about colour but again, in a very minimal way. Let's start with the image on our left; It captures that very beautiful aspect of makeup, and the colours on the model's lid are multidimensional in order to match the craziness of the other page. For me, I find that the pierced, and perfectly shaped red lip going on, takes away much of the attention from the eyes- but nevertheless, looks flawless. Now, the right-hand side of this spread again, I think is so smart. Simply because, somehow they have used an eyeshadow-like kaleidoscope background, added some sort of negative, grain effect and made the image of a product really stand out in front of it. This advert not only shows off the colour range in this line, but really captures their simple and luxurious packaging for everyone to see.

This commercial print is exotic, high-fashion and screams SS15 make-up trends of perspiration. The ad in itself is very smartly photoshopped without doubt, we can tell this from the matching of wishy washy blue that appears in both the exotic background, and the beautiful eyes of the model. The makeup is beyond flawless and is a whole new level of glow. I like that although this image has been heavily photoshopped, the crease and under-eyes of the makeup is very smoky, but this is then contrasted by the lightness in her waterline, inner-corner and lid. The lips, the eyes and even the skin are all luminous.
